Recently defined onco-fetal antigens and their potential application in clinical medicine.

چکیده
It has been shown that in human embryos there are heretofore undescribed embryonic antigens, which induce antibodies cross reacting with a wide range of malignant neoplasms. A simple screening method of sera for human malig nant neoplasms is suggested. A hypothetical model of protein synthesis over the entire life span of an organism is presented depicting the relationship of embryonic and adult proteins.

Review Paper: Embryonic Stem Cell and Osteogenic Differentiation
Bone tissue engineering has been one of the most promising areas of research, providing a potential clinical application to cure bone defects. Recently, various stem cells, including embryonic stem cells (ESCs), bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs), umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCB-MSCs), adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs), muscle-derived stem cell...
متن کاملTransgenic Expression of P1A Induced Thymic Tumor: A Role for Onco-Fetal Antigens in Tumorigenesis
P1A is the first known tumor rejection antigen. It is expressed in embryonic stem cells and multiple tumors but is silent in adult tissues except for the testis and placenta. Therefore, P1A represents a prototype for onco-fetal antigens. To test the potential function of P1A in tumorigenesis, we used a transgenic mouse expressing P1A in lymphoid cells. We observed that immunodeficient host P1A ...
متن کاملHuman term placental cells: phenotype, properties and new avenues in regenerative medicine
The human placenta has long been the subject of scientific interest due to the important roles which it performs during pregnancy in sustaining the fetus and maintaining fetomaternal tolerance. More recently, however, researchers have begun to investigate the possibility that the placenta’s utility may extend beyond fetal development to act as a source of cells with clinically relevant properti...
متن کاملApplication of First Trimester Screening in the Prognostication of Small for Gestational Age
Background: Fetal growth restriction is defined as the failure of the fetus to achieve its full growth potential. The present study aimed to investigate the application of first trimester screening in the prediction of small for gestational age (SGA).Methods: This cohort study was conducted on the consecutive and unselected women with singleton pregnancies undergoing routine first-trimester exa...
متن کاملP118: Metformin; A Review to its Anti-Neuroinflammatory Properties
Neuroinflammatory disorders include a wide spectrum of disorders in which immune system injures components of the nervous system. Despite the advances in therapy, lack of efficient curative therapies for these disorders not only affects the quality of life but also places huge burden on the society. These limitations have necessitated therapeutic interventions for developing more efficient regi...
